Post-Secondary Outreach

As a federally-funded National Resource Center in Latin American Studies, the Latin American Institute is proud  to support the development of Latin American Studies at universities across Southern California through course development grants and support for lectures and conferences.

To that end, we work in close collaboration with the Southern California Association of Latin American Studies (SCALAS). SCALAS is an organization of faculty who teach Latin American Studies and Latin American-related courses at area community colleges and Cal State campuses. Founded by faculty in the Latin American Studies Program at California State University, Los Angeles, it brings together dozens of Latin America specialists to collaborate on research, curriculum development, and community engagement.

To find out more about SCALAS and the funding it provides to support course development, lectures, and conferences, contact the Latin American Studies Program at CSULA at lass@calstate.edu.
