K-12 Outreach

For decades the Latin American Institute has offered workshops for K-12 educators in Greater Los Angeles and across California. These workshops equip teachers to more effectively incorporate Latin American content into their lesson plans. Our federally funded summer workshops include comparative and cross-regional presentations and lectures, as well as curriculum development sessions facilitated by UCLA faculty and other area experts.

Post-Secondary Outreach

Part of the Latin American Institute's mission as a federally-designated National Resource Center is to promote Latin American Studies at universities across our region, particularly community colleges and institutions that serve first-generation students and students of color. Our post-secondary programming is developed in partnership with the Southern California Association of Latin American Studies (SCALAS). An initiative of the Latin American Studies Program at California State University, Los Angeles, SCALAS brings together Latin Americanist faculty from nearly two-dozen regional institutions to collaborate on developing Latin America-related programming at their institutions.
