José Felipe Martínez is a Professor of Social Research Methodology at UCLA's School of Education and Information Studies. His research examines the application of measurement theory and methods to issues in education policy, specifically in relation to teacher, school, and program evaluation. A particular focus comprises instruments and tools for measuring classroom climate and instructional practice in mathematics and science, including teacher portfolios, student surveys, and observation protocols. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation, and the Spencer, WT Grant, and McDonnell foundations. Dr. Martínez teaches courses on measurement, research design, and survey methodology.
